Here's some handy links regarding wpSearch:
As of Auguest 07, 2008, wpSearch is officially accepting contributions and developers. You may think that wpSearch is a small project, but there are many factors that come into play in its development. Keeping wpSearch up-to-date with the latest version of Zend Lucene is important, as well as maintaining the homebrew Standard Analyzer for for wpSearch. The core code could use some reorganization, and user wishlists can get pretty demanding, even when only considering the most useful features.
If you have development skills in PHP, MySQL, and the willingness to learn the ropes of Wordpress plugin development, and you also want to contribute your own ideas to Wordpress let me know. Send me a light bit about your experience and why you want to be involved -- and welcome aboard.
Contributing is not limited to development. Testing development releases, writing documentation, and maintaining wishlists is also an important part of any project. Let me know if you interested in contributing.
